Steve Alonzo
Head Baseball Coach

Steve Alonzo has both an extensive teaching and coaching background. Steve holds a Master's of Science Degree from Brigham Young University and was the Assistant Coach at BYU for 3 years. While coaching baseball at Mountain View High School from 1976 to 1983, Steve received the coveted Coach of the Year Award from both the San Gabriel Tribune and the Los Angeles Times. Coach Alonzo has been the Head Baseball Coach at Mt. San Jacinto College for 22 years, where he received the Foothill Conference Coach of the Year Award in 1987. Steve was also the Howard Lowder Memorial Award in 1993, 1998, 1999 and 2006. Steve coached for both the Montreal Expos and the Boston Red Sox. Steve Alonzo is charismatic, enthusiastic and thrives on fostering the future and the career of each of his players.

Gregg Shaw, is a graduate of North High School in Riverside, where he played varsity baseball, football and basketball. He graduated from North, and went on to star in both baseball and football at Mt. San Jacinto, where he earned All-State honors in football. Upon completion of his time at Mt. San Jacinto, he went on to play football at the University of Colorado. In 1980, he returned to Mt. San Jacinto where he has coached for 26 years. During his time as a coach for the Eagles, Coach Shaw served 19 years as assistant football coach "hall of fame" coach, Bob Stangel. He served as head football coach for 4 years, taking his clubs to 2 bowl games! Coach Shaw, has also seen service as the head coach for the "Lady Eagles", basketball team as well as being the assistant men's basketball coach for 3 seasons. Coach Shaw, will be in his 5th year of service with the men's baseball team handling many responsibilities, including serving as Coach Alonzo's Bench Coach! Coach Shaw and his wife Mary, live in Hemet with their 5 children.
